Scholarships

Established in 2021 by Margie Malone Tuckson and Dr. Reed V. Tuckson, this scholarship honors the life of Henrietta Lacks and the invaluable impact she has made in the advancement of science and medicine. This $5,000 award will be given to an underrepresented student of medicine or resident at the University of South Alabama, who meets one of the following criteria: (1) a fourth-year medical student, (2) an outstanding medical resident, or (3) a PhD student. The selected awardee will be required to share his or her thoughts on what Henrietta Lacks’ story has meant on a personal level. The scholar will be presented with the scholarship at a reception in May 2021.

There is no open application for this scholarship. Recipients are selected internally.
