Professional and Career Development Programs
There is a dearth of social capital support for scholars, physicians, and healthcare professionals. Research shows that structured mentoring and curated networking experiences are essential for academic and career success, as they promote retention by fostering a sense of belonging and enhancing career prospects. NMF’s professional and career development programs create valuable connections, providing academic and career guidance aimed at supporting educational and professional journeys.

NMF Doctors in Clinical Trials Research Program
A unique collaborative effort of sponsoring organizations – Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, Merck, AbbVie, AstraZeneca, and Genentech – the NMF DCTR program is a comprehensive program that features a didactic curriculum to provide physicians with the core knowledge, skills and competencies to engage in clinical trial activities and post-training support (including mentoring and networking) to bridge the gap between training and practice.
After participating in NMF DCTR, emerging Principal Investigators are equipped with the tools and support to participate in and lead clinical research teams.
NMF Primary Care Leadership Program (PCLP)
PCLP provides future healthcare professionals with an opportunity to experience the challenges and rewards of primary care practice in community health centers across the U.S.
This program is open to medical students and graduate-level nursing and physician assistant students who are poised to become leaders in primary care and offers a $10,000 scholarship award.
