Reducing Black infant mortality via culturally responsive training and media awareness programs

Project Location/Site: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Year:
Key Outcomes:
Infant health care practices in Black communities are rooted in long standing traditions, passed on from one generation to the next. Teenagers can play a critical role in facilitating conversations that challenge these long held practices in their respective families. Adoption of a multi-platform approach is critical in implementing social media targeted awareness programs. Concise messages, catch phrases and mnemonics are essential in increasing awareness and piquing interest in both teenage and adult participants.
