Alexandria, VA – January 25, 2024 – National Medical Fellowships (NMF), a renowned institution committed to supporting underrepresented students and practitioners in medicine and health care professions, announced the appointment of John White as the new Vice President of Advancement. In this role, White will lead all fundraising and partnership efforts for the organization, which works to confront, address, and solve pervasive inequity in health care.

With an impressive background in resource development, White has gained valuable experience working at the Greater Atlanta Community Foundation, Morehouse College, and Morehouse School of Medicine. White has consistently identified and cultivated prospects, establishing a strong reputation for his skill in mobilizing resources and generating sustainable support.

“We are delighted to welcome John to NMF as we strive to end health disparities,” said Michellene Davis, Esq., President and CEO of NMF. “His years of expertise in engaging with donors, supporters, and partners will be invaluable in driving our mission forward. John’s addition to the team will contribute to the growth and success of NMF in achieving its goals towards a more equitable health care system.”

For decades, NMF has made strides towards achieving health equity by providing scholarships to Black, Indigenous, Latine, and other people of color who aspire to pursue medical careers. With each passing year, NMF has broadened its support to encompass other critical roles in health care as part of its commitment to closing the health-wealth gap. To reach this objective, NMF has awarded millions in financial assistance to more than 32,000 talented students who have been chronically marginalized and underrepresented in medicine. NMF’s Diversity in Clinical Trials Research program has trained more than 174  diverse clinical investigators to ensure clinical research delivers better outcomes for all.

“I am thrilled to be joining NMF and contributing to its vital work,” said White. “I am passionate about using diverse techniques and data-driven decision-making to create impactful fundraising campaigns. I look forward to collaborating with the dedicated team at NMF to achieve our fundraising goals.”
