Danny Freeman is a CNN correspondent based in Philadelphia. Since joining the network in 2023, he has led coverage of major national stories, including the 2024 presidential race in Pennsylvania, the federal death penalty trial of the Pittsburgh synagogue shooter, and the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Before CNN, Mr. Freeman was an investigative reporter for NBC10 Philadelphia, covering campaign finance, environmental issues, and police accountability. He previously reported for NBC 7 San Diego, where he hosted the station’s public affairs program, and for KGET-17 News in Bakersfield, California. Earlier in his career, Mr. Freeman was a campaign embed for NBC News during the 2016 presidential race and reported from Medellín, Colombia, on the country’s 2014 presidential election.

Originally from New York, Mr. Freeman is a Colombian American, a member of NAHJ and IRE, and a graduate of Dartmouth College.
