The Journey Matters Series - Dr. Anya Bazzell

Join us for The Journey Matters session on Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 7:00pm-8:00pm EDT. This series allows scholars an opportunity to learn about a featured mentor's path in order to inform their own journey. We're excited to welcome NMF alumna, Dr. Anya Bazzell as our speaker.

 Our Speaker

Dr. Anya Bazzell earned her Bachelor of Arts from Boston University, her Masters of Public Health from Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM), and her Masters of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine – GA Campus. She is a 2020 medical school graduate of Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA.

Dr. Bazzell has demonstrated her passion for medicine and research and her affinity for serving the underserved through a myriad of community engagement and global health endeavors. Her experience ranges from conducting community-based participatory research at the University of Ghana School of Public Health in Accra, Ghana to serving on the front lines of covid pandemic relief in Martha’s Vineyard.

During her tenure at MSM, Dr. Bazzell participated in the Annual Mission Trip to Haiti and served as a Co-Director for the HEAL Student-Run Clinic. There, she participated in the National Medical Fellowships UHF Program and was awarded several of their other scholarships. In her community, Dr. Bazzell is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Director and Founder of the Expressions of Exaltation Dance Ministry at Turner Chapel A.M.E. Church. As Dr. Bazzell continues her medical education at the Mount Sinai-Harlem Institute for Family Health Residency Program, she looks forward to participating in collaborative efforts, both locally and abroad, to extend the reach of Women’s Health equity, literacy, and advocacy to the underserved and disenfranchised around the globe.
