Join us for The Journey Matters
An exclusive event series for NMF scholars and young alumni.
This virtual series gives you an opportunity to learn about featured alumni's paths to inform your own medical journey. We're excited to welcome NMF alumna Dr. Kamaria Coleman to this discussion!
Born in Memphis, TN, Dr. Kamaria Coleman has long been an advocate for underserved populations.
She is passionate about musculoskeletal health and mobility in patients of all ages. A graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana—the nation’s only historically Black and Catholic university—Dr. Coleman was an active student who volunteered in multiple capacities, particularly in literacy initiatives throughout New Orleans.
She graduated cum laude with a major in biology/pre-medicine, a minor in chemistry, and honors in English and theology. She went on to complete a Master’s in Biological Science and the MEDPREP (post-baccalaureate) program at Southern Illinois University, where she later earned her medical degree in 2023.
Dr. Coleman continues to advocate for patients of all abilities as a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation resident. A budding researcher, she has presented numerous abstracts at national conferences and is currently a third-year resident considering a pediatric fellowship.
