The Journey Matters Series is back!
Join us for The Journey Matters! This series allows scholars an opportunity to learn about a featured mentor's path in order to inform their own journey. We're excited to welcome NMF alumnus, Dr. Marco Proano to this discussion.
Our Speaker
Marco Proano, MD is a first-generation Ecuadorian American, born and raised in Plainfield, NJ. He completed his undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, and went on to attend medical school at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ. During the summer of 2016, Dr. Proano had the opportunity to participate in the NMF Primary Care Leadership Program in Rochester, NY.
His passion for medicine stems from his desire to serve his community, especially having come from a background where access to health insurance and care was challenging. With a diverse range of interests within the medical field, he pursued a residency in Internal Medicine and completed it with a focus on primary care in June 2023 at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM.
Now back in his home state of New Jersey, Dr. Proano is currently working as a hospitalist at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly, NJ, where he's been for a little over a year. He is excited to share his experiences and insights with future medical professionals.
