Daniel Kim, a first-year medical student, is an advocate for the underserved. He has been serving the refugee community in Clarkston, Georgia, since he was in high school. In 2010, he helped start a nonprofit organization committed to eliminating health, economic and social disparities in the refugee community, and he continues volunteering with them today. At Morehouse School of Medicine, he strives to be a strong presence in his community by serving at free clinics for the homeless, volunteering at high school pipeline programs, and working with at-risk women and children at a homeless shelter.
Milhouse, Kimyra Kimyra Milhouse, MPH

Kimyra Milhouse has a growing passion for researching community health needs and serving underserved communities. Kimyra has helped organize health fairs, served on drug and alcohol awareness teams, and volunteers at toy drives in her hometown. During her graduate studies, Kimyra successfully implemented an electronic medical record system for a local clinic in Parotee, Jamaica. During this internship, Kimyra also assisted in the provision of healthcare to the local residents. Recently, Kimyra surveyed and researched health disparities to compile a Community Themes and Strengths Assessment. Kimyra plans to integrate her public health experiences with her medical education to minimize health disparities in undeserved communities.
Proano, Marco Marco Proano

Marco Proano has shown commitment to underserved communities through advocacy, education, and volunteering. Marco assisted in the creation, and serves as board member, of the Tri-County Latino Coalition of New Jersey, an advocacy organization favor of a politically underrepresented Latino community, and the Alumni Mentoring Program, which provides unrepresented students with college preparation and health education. Marco also donates a great amount of time to delivering health services in underserved communities. Marco has been a medical interpreter at a clinic which serves the underserved community of New Brunswick, NJ, and currently provides health services to uninsured patients at a student run free clinic in Newark, NJ.
Wadsworth, Casey Casey Wadsworth

Casey Wadsworth continues to show her commitment to volunteering and working with the underserved. After completing her undergraduate degree, she took a position working with the College of Charleston’s Multicultural Student Programs and Services office. In this role, she supervised a summer transition program for minority and first generation students. She also secured a job working as a patient care tech, where she gained firsthand patient care experience. As a medical student, Casey has continued to serve her community by volunteering at free clinics and shelters. She has also enrolled in an elective course that will teach her about working with underserved populations.
