As a proponent for inclusion in medicine, Denise mentors high school students as a co-chair for HPREP, a high school tutoring and mentoring program through her school’s Student National Medical Association chapter. Prior to medical school, Denise participated in a summer pipeline program with a volunteer initiative to address health disparities in medically underserved populations by educating children on the importance of preventative care. Currently, Denise and her classmates are conducting an intervention in the medically underserved population of Mechanicsville in Atlanta, Georgia through the tools of a service-learning course.
Taylor, Altelisha 1 Altelisha Taylor

Altelisha Taylor is dual MD/MPH degree student with a strong passion for health policy, research, and community service. As an undergraduate, she received several grants to conduct international research on women’s health and nutrition which was later published. After graduating with a degree in public policy, she began to work on the Affordable Care Act in Washington, DC and advocated for polices like Medicaid expansion and SNAP. Currently, Altelisha is completing her MPH and MD degrees, becoming active in her local SNMA chapter, and will be co-leading a medical mission trip to the Dominican Republic.
